Here's the story:
I posted a "Want To Buy" thread on corral looking for 2003/2004 cobra parts. The Seller approached me and said he had coil covers, painted black, in moderate condition for sale. He said he didnt have a picture hosted on the web for me to look at them, but that he could send me a picture message. I said that was fine and gave him my cell number. I felt things were a little fishy, due to the fact that his forum account is basically empty (no sig, no avatar, low post number, been a member for a year but i figured he just used the site for the classifieds like I do.
Anyways, I got a picture message of some blurry, far away coil covers. They were black and i figured that they were probably better than my damaged ones. I asked him for his paypal and I sent him $40.00 for the coil covers and shipping. This transaction took place on 4-16-10. I figured since we went through paypal, and since it was such a small amount of money, no harm if he does disappear. Plus he had 100% feedback on the website.
I wait 2 weeks for the parts and they never show. I send him a text asking about them and he said he sent them out the day after the payment and he had a reciept to prove it. I said that I trusted him and there were no hard feelings, I just needed him to help me out to get to the bottom of the situation. for the 3rd week, we communicate quite well trying to get the post office to figure out where the package is. We both come up empty. His response is "just keep waiting, they will show up. If you want a refund, i can do that, but if they arrive i want you to re-pay me." I said that i have flawless feedback on all my accounts including e-bay, and that I am in no way out to scam people and that his offer would work. I wait a few more days and on 5-17-10 send him another text (final text) that requests a refund. My time to file a paypal claim was running out, and I gave him as much time as possible.
text is as follows (typos included. lol)
"Hey man. Still no covers. I was curious about a refund until they show up... Its been a month since ii sent payment."
He did not reply to my text message. A few days later, I started a PayPal dispute.
He did not reply to the dispute. I escaladed it to a claim.
He did not reply to the claim. PayPal rules in my favor.
Money sent to Seller: 4-16-2010
Money returned to me from paypal: 6-16-2010
No harm done, but I would hate for one of you guys to buy a $5,000.00 long block from him or something........
