Im looking at buying an 01 GT and would like to know some features about them, like what they came with stock. I know its a 2v 4.6, 5 speed. The lady wants 5500 for it and I got her talked down to 5000 cash, it has 119k miles, black leather. Minor damage to the front bumper on the passenger side. Should I try and go lower or dont push my luck and stick with 5? do these come with the T45 transmission? and what kind of rear gears do they come with?

its either a t45 or a 3650 but i think the 3650 was in the later models. if its in good condition 5gs sounds fair. pics would help alot tho, what else are you wanting to know

Make sure it has the aluminum coolant crossover manifold, if not plan to be replacing that in the near future

an 01 should have a TR-3650

2001 is a split year, i'm pretty sure the split took place in February, so any 2001 built before February would have a T-45 and after February would be TR-3650.....

Lee to the rescue, stole my thunder hahah, If its a 3650, parts are more expensive, and are weak. People say stuff about the t45, but personally, you build it with the right imput shaft, correct parts and your good.

also, the tag inside the drivers door will tell you which.

look at the bottom right of the tag, should see a section that says "TR"

first letter/number identifies tranny.

6 = T45
5 = T5
k = TR-3650

She also informed me that it leaks brake fluid constantly, but that could be something as simple as the bleeder valve or something major as the master cylinder itself. The tires from the pictures look pretty bad, but im lookin at it tomorrow so thatll be the first things i check over. Here are some pictures, theyre from a camera phone so it takes out color, but its a bright zinc yellow

Ive always loved yellow cars, being a 1985 yellow camaro was my first car, the other two have been red. but color dont make it go fast lol body work will be in the future after all the performance mods. for beginners ill just get an intake, full exhaust and gears. then ill start thinking about cams and stuff

coolant fix as in the aluminum crossover??? if so then MID 2001, if you mean radiator then 97...

the T3650 is CLUNKY compared to the T45, they are about the same strenght wise, but the T3650 cost more to repair, both are weak links if driven hard or when power gets slightly over stock. if both were sitting next to each other and i needed one i would pick the T45 for smoothness but the T3650 for age......

To clear up the T45 or TR3650 debate, which has been correctly addressed in a few posts, February was the cutoff date for the T45. If I'm not mistaken, February and before 01's, obviously including cars with build dates in 00, have a T45. March and on have TR-3650's.

And both suck.
