Seafoam?

since the 98 4.6 has not break booster, which vacuum line do we use to add the seafoam into our engine.

by the way has anyone tried this? is it a good idea?

ive read posts where people just swear by using this stuff, and others completly hate it. what do you guys think?

I've used it a few times now with ZERO problems. Some guys say they have issues though. :dunno:

Use the PVC or take your IAC off and use that port.

I didn't hear the horror stories till after I used it. Thankfully, it worked good for me.

I doubt it'll improve anything for you anyway Dave. If you had a 100k + miles then maybe.

I used the giant rubber line comming right out of the front of the TB.

BTW, in my 97, it killed my O2 sensors, in my Fox, it didn't do a thing, good or bad. I'm starting to think the improvement is in peoples heads.

I dont want to risk messing anything up, ima do my PI swap in a few months anyway, its not like its gonna kill the car to not seafoam it lol.

You also run the risk of fowling your plugs on top of what others have already mentioned. Therefore I'd do it right before a plug swap- just make sure you install new plugs when the engine is totally cold to decrease the chance of one blowing out of the head.

That said, I run through the PCV valve (you can unhook and dunk the PCV in the seafoam, makes a nice restriction if you're afraid of sucking a ton in and hydrolocking like I was). Follow the directions on the can!! Don't just suck the whole thing down...

ive ruled it out as too much risk for the reward, im just gonna use it as a fuel additive and not worry about the crank case, i put half the can in my tank, and the other half the next time i fill up. there is no sense in possibly ruining something that works perfectly as is, with the possibility of a minimal to no reward.

Oh well, by the time my PI setup gets to 100,000 miles i will have already bored, honed, and forged my block...Hopefully LOL. its a great car i plan on keeping it for a long time.

So far, I've used it 4 times. I've never burned up any o2's or plugs. And unless whatever I was drinking was spiked, it DID make an improvement.
