My 04 gt conv has a wear spot near bottom of back wear driver gets in/out always. someone put like a paste over it but its now peeling. Can these seats be recovered in same color charcoal gray ( or is it midnight black) or would that be crazy pricey? anybody find good quality leather slip over covers? love to find NOS original seat covers as I know a good upholster who could install them.

what do you consider crazey pricey? I was happy to find a deal on my used but still great condition corbeau leather seats for $600 and thought the covers my dad got from catzkin for his subaru were well made of good leather and not a bad deal at $2300 for front/rear. There was a company at one time specializing in sn upholstery but I have not heard or seen from them in a while

I bought white TMI vinyl skins for my 94 GT for around $830 in november of 22. They look great. You can see pictures of them in my forbidden fruit v10 build thread. I bought new seat foams for an extra $375. Only because the seat foams were completely shot.

I went with the vinyl since I'm not spending an extra thousand for the only part to be leather touching your ass and back.

Anyone has experience with this company? I am waiting to receive the color samples and see how well it matches the original seats color.

I would go to a junkyard and find a seat bottom from the passenger side of a convertible and swap it over to the driver side. There will be possibly some cutouts for levers and such on the right side but it will be hidden against the console. Usually the passenger seats are in much better condition.

driver seat also has area in front wher electric seat controls are. I did consider getting a passenger seat and just use the 'back' section as that is where most the wear is. only diff I can tell is passenger seat has a storage flap on backside where drivers side don't.

Has anyone tried new TMI foam with other brand vinyl or leather skins? My logic says as long as both are OEM-style, they should fit, but who knows?

I am not sure i would want to make that bet. They make the skins to fit so tight around the foam that it takes a fair amount of work to get them on. I can only imagine that it is a little wider here, a little more narrow there and suddenly you either can't stuff the foam in the skin or it is so loose and wrinkled that it would drive me nuts.
