I've had a pro 5.0 for four years with no issues. I ditched the included handle for a steeda tri-ax handle to make it easier to reach.

I have a B&M ripper in my 95, it was there when I got the car. liked it so I kept it
Had a Tri-ax in my last car didn't like it as much little more clunky and noisy it was in a 3650 trans.
As far as your prob. with it coming out check the positive stop bolts they might need to be backed off.

Pro 5.0 is the only shifter I have tried but I don't have any complaints.
