Should I replace my intake filter?

Ok so my car had a MAC cai on it when I got it and the filter has not been changed yet. Ive put about 25k on her. Should I change the filter and if so, what type of filter should I go with? I do not think MAC makes replacement filters so prpbably just a K&N would be fine? But what are some signs that I should replace it.

Thanks,
Free

I think MAXC uses a re-useable K&N style? If not, then just throw an K&N cone on there and start reusing that. There really are no signs, they just get all scuzzy, lol.

if its a cotton style filter (like a K&N) just use some filter cleaner and re-use it

Yeah but wouldnt a K&N be a much better route to go? Will I have any fitment issues if I change it out? Void do you know how much the MACS are selling for and what book or site?

If the MAC one is reusable, theres no point or gain in swapping it, unless it's ripped.

Oh so yeah...doesnt k&n sell that like "re-charge" stuff..like oil for your intake filter right? So what would be my steps in cleaning it? Just spray off, let dry and lather it in the re-charge stuff? Lol sorry no experience in this field.

Yeah you can get a recharge at autozone for like 8 bucks. Basically you got it, there is also some oil that you need to apply, it catches the dirt. There's instructions in the pack.

Thanks guy! Much appreciated! So will I notice anything significant by just cleaning or re-charging my filter? JW

Depends on how bad it is, but no, probably not.

Most of these thing's actually give you gains in %, so a clean filter over a filthy, nasty, clogged filter is worth like 2%, and 2% of 200 is 4... I'm just throwing number;s out there, but you get the idea. Now if it's running itty, and stumbling and whatnot, then the filter is probably why and should clear it up.

No I'm going off the assumption that the MAC filter IS reusable, I don't know if it is or not, so it may fall apart when you try to clean it. If it's made of paper swap it for a K&N

dont use too much of that re-charge oil either....just a little bit , enough to re-soak the filter in that oil......dont want it dripping...otherwise, the motor will suck it thru, and that shit will get on to the MAF sensor element and fuck everything up....
