I did that first with an E-cam and was disappointed but it was alot quicker.
So I bought some used AFR 185's. All this for less then $1500 and it will be a beast..
Of course you lose more power through an auto but they are more consistent and more reliable. An auto trans setup right beats a manual trans any day.(IMO). Ask a real drag racer what they use... For a street car manuals are fine.
But I will take a T56 over an AUTO any day of the week. Just because they are more fun...

You do realize for the $7800 that engine costs you could have built a very decent stroker with more power with forced induction? Just saying, I loked at crate engine, and the mark-up to buying the assembled engine to building your own is ridiculous, I'd rather build my own engine at least I can say I BUILT my carItsASleeperTillItStartsUp said:This is what im rollin with http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=M6007Z347FT+01

As for Auto vs. standard, I would put an auto in a 10 second or faster car when shifting because hard, but on a 13-12 second car, you would need a high stall converter to match a stick, and you would lose the everyday driveability of it and still have higher drivetrain loss through an auto tranny. My cousin is taking the stalled C4 out of his stroker because he can't drive it on the street without the tranny overheating, throwing in a TKO-600 I think. To sum it up, VERY fast cars(10.5 or faster) in my eyes is where an auto should be used in a race application
