I know how it feels being slow.

Here in NYC everyone has an MB C/S/SL/CLS 63 AMG or an M5 or Audi or whatnot... LOTS of fast cars...

There are plenty on the street that are stock which would absolutely RAPE my Cobra(even with a couple of bolt-ons) but hey what are you gonna do? Our cars are getting near 20 years old and were never that fast to start with...

That being said everyone on the street thinks that a mustang with an exhaust "is really fast."(In NYC at least) I've had a few people in nice German/Jap cars not want to run because they thought my practically stock Cobra vert would rape them... The psychological effect has lots to do with it.

Honestly, if I honk off with someone, I drive the piss out of my car, and most of the time I end up ahead just for that reason...

U could do a Gt40p head, Exploder intake, and a few other bolt on things like pulleys and tune for less then $1000 and it will totally change your car.

I did that first with an E-cam and was disappointed but it was alot quicker.

So I bought some used AFR 185's. All this for less then $1500 and it will be a beast..

Of course you lose more power through an auto but they are more consistent and more reliable. An auto trans setup right beats a manual trans any day.(IMO). Ask a real drag racer what they use... For a street car manuals are fine.

But I will take a T56 over an AUTO any day of the week. Just because they are more fun...

+1 You can have a pretty constant one with a manual with the right transmission, gear ratios, and final drive gear (Differential Setup)

I know exactly what you`re saying and agree 100% and I have a 2003 GT. No-one has any idea what its all about here so I only get `the looks`. The `I won`t bother`looks, lol.
But to be fair to the car it can lift its skirt and shunt on when the pedal is stamped on. I just know not to try my hand with certain cars.

You do realize for the $7800 that engine costs you could have built a very decent stroker with more power with forced induction? Just saying, I loked at crate engine, and the mark-up to buying the assembled engine to building your own is ridiculous, I'd rather build my own engine at least I can say I BUILT my car :p. As for Auto vs. standard, I would put an auto in a 10 second or faster car when shifting because hard, but on a 13-12 second car, you would need a high stall converter to match a stick, and you would lose the everyday driveability of it and still have higher drivetrain loss through an auto tranny. My cousin is taking the stalled C4 out of his stroker because he can't drive it on the street without the tranny overheating, throwing in a TKO-600 I think. To sum it up, VERY fast cars(10.5 or faster) in my eyes is where an auto should be used in a race application :).

That is the reason I original got into Mustangs in the first place over 10 years ago was it was a cheap muscle car with cheap parts and lots of possibilities. I bought the car for $7,200 Cash in 07 and the owner wanted $9,500 obo. He was thrown off by the offers at first but the time of year he was selling it he wound up making a deal with me after 2 weeks. It was 7,400 before I got to the bank and I said I would take him out to Lunch for $7,200 and he looked at me weird at first and then was like ah what the heck I. I later found out he got it from a dealer a bit ago from Murrells Inlet and it was the prize test drive car (All People Around Wanted To Test It) there and they took a photo of him, the car and the owner of the dealership when he bought it. LOL I am not sh1ting you. We ate at fireman subs here in Murells Inlet, SC and took her back home with a big grin.
