the other day i, noticed that my car was taking longer than normal start. it had to turn over about twice as much. so while it was running there was whitish smoke coming from the exhaust. and some one said that it was blue but i havent seen any blue. the car only has 102k and i've had it for about 4 weeks now. how can i figure out what is causing it to smoke. and i havent abused the car, (i havent even got to do a good burnout yet) in the time that i've had it

White smoke usually signifies a blown head gasket. Blue smoke is usually caused by worn valve guides which is allowing oil into the combustion chamber. Or, your timing may be off. Check all the easy, cheap repairs first.
Plug wires-Are they seated completely on the CP's and spark plugs?
How old are your CP's?

the coil packs appear to be the original. so should i replace them with msd's as like a preventitive matinence. (would i notice a power difference?) how would i check the timing? and how would those things cause smoke? i ran seafoam through it and the smoke has basicly gone away. but i am not sure yet

If you did the PI h/c/i swap though, it probably would fix your problem. You'd have new valve guides, plus new head gaskets. Go for it man!

see, the problem is that im 17 and i live with my grandma. basicly i work as much as i can and dont want to mess up the car by ripping it all apart. i figured i could do the intake, plenum, TB and LT's for now. then later have a shop do pi heads along with better cams. i know its way to much for me to attept it without help. but it did stop smoking. i am so confused with this car.
