I'm looking forward to finding one that fits my criteria for my search. Black exterior ( interior any really ) clean, well maintained and preferably with less than 80k miles. Ive done my homework on them and there is some quirks but nothing major or out of league for what you can buy one for used now. You can find them pretty cheap .......but you probally get what you pay for in that case. Ive found a few that look great in all aspects but they are always a long ass way from me. :crybaby2:

Any of you guys ever own or ride in one? For those of you that don't know they have the 4 valve 4.6 and close to 300hp with a automatic. Its performance mixed with a luxury ride :headbang: should make for a nice daily driver. Plus I'm sure I can get more than 12mpg out of it compared to the L. :tongue3:

I had a '98 LSC. It made 228rwhp/227rwhp bone stock. I sold it.

They suck to work on, parts are hideously expensive, and headlights are completely unavailable.

The bulbs. Well heck, the whole thing. The bulbs are produced by Sylvania and haven't really been available for a couple years now. (unless something has changed that I'm unaware of) The headlights eventually get foggy and need replaced, and they're also unavailable. The first gen Mark VIIIs had tiny crappy headlights that were like making your way through a cave with a candle. Then came the HIDs were are great, but expensive as hell and unavailable. The neon taillight is also badass, but a couple grand if it breaks. (if you can even find the part) The door handles will literally snap in your hand (like mine did) and replacing the sucks ass. Not to mention the cost of tri-coat paint for that particular handle. (since my car was dark torreador red) Then the mixture door actuator goes out so you either have A/C or heat, but not both. It's a cheap part (but also difficult to find or unavailable) but most shops will charge around $500 labor to fix it since it's dead center in the middle of the dashboard. Oh, and the seats stop working. And 1st gens had the crappiest trim ever and everything plastic breaks. And airbags are easy, but not cheap. Did I mention they suck to work on? I got rid of mine after about a year and bought my '95 GT - never looked back.

I think Mark VIIIs are beautiful cars, but the build quality sucks and parts are basically unavailable. It's a damn shame too. Mine got ~26+ mpg on the freeway, was a dream to drive, and ran 15.1 @ 97 mph at the track without any practice. They will murder lots of cars from a roll... it's pretty funny.

Yeah i was going to mention reliability, not really something Lincoln is known for which I would think is part of the reason for their rapid depreciation. I'd definitely look into a few owner reviews before buying one.

how much do mark VIII usually cost?
prices can really range for ones that have similar milage and condition. Anywhere from around 2500 up to 9k. I was looking to spend around 6k .
