Well went to the local test n tune tonight or the first time ever and had a great time. Got a new PR =p, got some new goals now too. Went into the day just hoping to run 14.7's and ended up with a best of 14.3 on the day at 98 mph (random number, starting out slow). Had a couple mechanical issues so only ended up getting 2 runs in =(. Before I post the slips let me disclaimer: I have never attempted to launch my car before today and that was very apparent by my 60' time =p

Run 1 Run 2
Reaction .9448 .7300
60' 2.2242 2.2780
330' 6.1942 6.2439
1/8 et 9.4081 9.3940
1/8 mph 76.15 77.07
1000' et 12.1310 12.0859
1000' mph 90.23 91.11

no, i've never tried launching it before so i was letting the clutch out at like 2500 but i think just w/o thinking, i was instinctively mashing the gas as soon as i lifted off the clutch. I need launching advice =[ lol

Launching a car I feel just takes practice. All cars react differently. My '94 will launch differently from your '94 just because of the differences in mods that we have. And my '94 launches differently then my '74 Nova did. Keep at it though. You'll get better.

YYeah, i was having issuess with crankcase pressure and blowing oil out my dipstick so i gotta put a breather in before i go back to the track. i only got 2 runs in and ended up oiling down part of the track on each run =X

Mainly just practice. If your running on a sportsman tree depending on car setup I leave when the 3ed amber lights up. I used to bring a mini tree with me to practice my reaction times on. Practice practice practice. Eventually it will become muscle memory. Just try doing the same thing every time. Bring a tire pressure gauge and if you can a small air compressor (if you drive to and from the track on the same tires that you race on). After you start getting more consistent try experiment with different tire pressures, rpms for launching/shifting. Usually I would try driving like I was trying to break something on every run (ie drive it like it's stolen). :angel4: :eek:ccasion14:

What were you running for tires?

Launching with a stick can be tricky. You will be limited by what your suspension and tire choice is. The more race oriented the suspension and tires are the better the 60' can be. Dont dump the clutch though, let it slip some until you know the tires are going to grab then let it out the rest of the way. Dumping the clutch and mashing the gas usually only works well when using slicks or very close to it.

not bad man, your car looks to be lowered and depending how stiff it is along with whatever tires your running can be the bad 60ft time.if your running the low profile tires chances are thats playing part bc the sidewall of the tire has no flex as well as a street tire is just that.every tenth off the 60ft is a 2 tenths on the big end.if you can cut some good 60s your car has potential for 13s.your 14.3 run for example,if that was a 1.7 60ft,your looking at 13.3-13.4. 1.7 will be tough on a street tire but you get a slick on there,no problem.what does your car weigh and what are you shifting at,id imagine with your mods you should be getting a higher trap speed then that.

Tire were 315/35/17 555r's. i know they arent the best but i know people who have cut 1.8 60' with them. I'm almost positive that i was just dumping and mashing. it sucks i only got 2 runs in so i didnt have a chance to fix it.

whats your suspensions setup?

eibach prokit, bilstein struts in the front, bullitt tokico's out back. HPM Megabite jr adjustable uppers with non adjustable lowers.

I'm pretty sure that my pinion angle is off. I havent had the time to get under my car and check it though. What is it supposed to be set at?

Not positive about the weight, the only weight reduction i have is the fiberglass hood, racing seats, no spare/dressings in the trunk and aluminum heads/intake. I was shifting right around 5200. I'm gotta readjust my rockers, a few sound like they've gotten louder and while i'm in there i'm gonna recheck my pushrod length.

Things just dont seem to add up with my car and idk where to start looking for missing power lol i only put down 266 at the dyno but i think that is partly due to the tuner not being able to pick up a torque reading.

Yeah I had similar problems with dyno and tune, there sounds to be something really wrong with your car, a car with heads and your mods should be atleast trapping around 102-106 and in the 13's, your times seems really slow when my friend owned mycar when it was almost stock just intake exaust and gears my car dynoed 201rwhp and he ran 14.6@96 that was with stock everything else stock h/c/i stock motor everything.
