Ok heres the story. I have a crane HI-6N box. This is the NASCAR approved box yadda yadda. It was given to me NIB in a trade for an Exploder intake. Well its designed to use a magnetic trigger distributor, or a Crane optically triggered distributor. Heres a link to the pdf of the wiring diagram for the N box http://69.20.53.62/pdf/90007500a.pdf . Youll notice it uses a 6 wire harness. Red, White, Orange, black, and Orange, and black again. So after looking at the pdf on the Crane HI-6 (here http://69.20.53.62/pdf/90006000d.pdf )I figured it wouldnt be too awful hard to use this box. I ordered up Cranes TFI harness, and went to install. I ran the system like the HI-6 red/white wires into the factory harness via cranes tfi harness, and then orange/black into the coil. If youll notice on the N's diagram I used wires D, and C to the coil, and left F, and E completely out of the system as the regular 6 doesnt utilize these extra wires, and since Im not the most confident person when it comes to wiring I didnt want to go hacking on my wiring without some input. When the box is hooked up it will not start. I tried hooking up my multi meter, and tried to find some kind of power. I couldnt get through any of the insulation to get a reading anywhere.
Im hoping someone here who knows these cars better than I can help me figure out how to wire this thing. Ive asked on corral with 0 answers, and stangnet with the only answer being use the harness... well yeah I know that, but at the time I couldnt find one. Summit has them back in stock, so I got one, and still nothing. What am I missing??? And just everyone knows how little I know about these boxes Ive never used an ignition box. Never needed one, but this one was free so what the heck right?
