I recently decided it was time to change the plugs in the stang (94 5.0). So I purchased a set of spark plugs from American Muscle. Decided to get the NGK G-Power Platinum Performance spark plugs. Mainly because they were cheap and had good reviews. I was planning on installing them this weekend. However, I had read on another forum a user recommended a copper series plug....he went on to state that "our 5.0 computers do not like the platinum plugs". However I beleive the person that stated that had a Fox body which would have a different computer than our 94-95 cars. So my question is, is there any issues in using a platinum plug with the 94-95 5.0's? As long as I don't see any loss in power, or fuel economy in installing these i'm fine with them. I wanted to get your guys opinions on the matter before installing them however. Here is a link to the plugs if anyone would like to take a look. http://www.americanmuscle.com/ngk-sparkplugs-3207.html

They'll be just fine. My experience is carbed vehicles have a harder time with platinums for some reason. The computer has no clue about plugs in these dinosaurs. It just controls timing functions.

$30/set is kinda pricey IMO. Last time I bought a set of Bosch Platinums for the wife's V10 and they were like $0.80/each, RockAuto has smokin' deals on plugs.

They work great...as far as I can tell, and don't seem to pose any issues with the computer or anything.

Most people only say go copper plugs because they take way more fuel to become fouled. On a stockish car in good running order platinum should be fine. The only advantage they really offer is they require changing less often so you get more mileage from your tune ups.

the platinum or iridium plugs will last much longer then copper but some people like copper better because it conducts better though you have to change them more often.

I've always been told stick with the cheap copper plugs. I run autolite 3924, I believe. Summit runs them for .50 cents each sometimes. It's what my builder told me to run as well.

I like the NGK Coppers. I run the NGK BCPR&EY-11. Advance has them for $1.79 ea. They have the 3/4" thread depth for aluminum heads (0.46" for iron heads). I find that they burn a little cleaner than the Autolites with the same heat range and they are a little cheaper.

I had plays in my 95 5.0 and ended up swapping them out in a few thousand because the truck wasn't running right. It ate them right up....back to the coppers it went.

From what I've heard Platinum plugs are good for longevity but not as good for performance, when I first got my 5.0 i put platinum plugs in it and the car ran great but when I started building my engine it was suggested i switch them out.

I find the motorcraft plugs to be the best quality so even if you wanna go copper Id use their copper plugs, The number is the same but with a CC on the end
