Spec clutch feedback

im looking at stage 1,ive heard good things about it...

i have stage 2. its a little stiff but it grabs like no tomorrow when you drop the clutch

Personally I would look for a clutch that slips a bit. What I mean is Spec have a hard bite and put a lot of stress on stock transmissions. I would rather waste a clutch then a tranny. If you don't drag your car you should be fine though.

I have a stage 2, doesn't chatter and it's very streetable once you relearn how to drive smoothly with it. A guy i know locally put the stage 1 in his car and mine felt lighter for whatever reason...

I debated for a long time. I really wanted a cf dual friction, I've heard the mccleod (sp?) are good as well.

I went with a spec stg 2, no regrets. works well for me

i ahve spec stage 2.

took quite a while for chatter to quiet.

still chatters in reverse.

functions/performs great.
needed adjustable clutch cable... sadly.

I have heard good things about the spec stg 1 and 2. A buddy of mine had a h/c/i 308 92 GT, and he had a stage one, and he liked it, until
he took it too the track.. Then it would slip like crazy, and sometimes smoke leaving the line. He switched to a stage 2 and has zero complaints.
Another guy i know with a h/c/i s-trimmed 93 coupe has the stage 2 and he said it grabs well, but he might switch to something else. I would stay
away from the stage 3 though. 2 guys i know, both with Terminator swapped New edge GTs had the stage 3s, one split in half on the dyno, the
other lost a clutch fin launching on the street. So, long story short, the stage 1 should be fine for your needs. haha

I had a spec 3+ and hated it.
Swapped it with a McLoed twin disk.
it is more $ but performs/feels so good, night and day difference.

I'm interested in this too. I'm kinda on the lookout for a good clutch. I still have the stock one and I want to burn it with FIRE!!

As much as I like my stage 2 I think next time I'm going to try that Centerforce DFX.

I have heard great thing and horrible things. I have a Centerforce Dual Friction Pressure plate and a Ford disc and well yeah it held up great for over a year with a bolt missing. I am now going with a SVE mongoose Clutch. Basically a King Cobra clutch with a little more power holding capabilities.

yeah i find out almost a year later that my old roomate when he helped me tighten the bolts i gave him the torque wrench i said when you hear a little click stop. Well yeah i guess he is hard of hearing or something. I found this out back in Dec about a year later after i redid my clutch last year. So not bad at all for a clutch i say

why is that?

supposed to be much stronger than the regular Dual Friction, yet still maintain the light, easy to drive feel. My Spec isn't bad until you get stuck in traffic, then your leg is donezo.

If you want something strong yet lightweight you can always go with the LMC series

yeah. i would just need something to hold about 500 ft/lbs TQ. That why i was leaning to the spec stage 2

I'm not making too much power but last time i was at the track i was very impressed with how my stage 2 was handling the 4500rpm launches.
