i set my timing to 15* maybe 16*, its hard to tell from my chalk mark but it runs great, a lot smoother, but my question is about the spout connector, i took it off when timing it and when i was done i put it back on, so what is the purpose of it, what does the spout connector do and what will happen if it is not put back on, i'm just curious about it

so because i advanced my timing to 15/16* without it, does that mean that it is advanced even more since i put it back in afterwards, what would happen if i just left it out and never put it back in

The SPOut connector disables all computer controlled advance when removed. With out it your dizzy will run with the timing locked wherever its set.

wait a minute, I set our 94 to 14 degrees with the spout out... does that mean I only got her to 12 base once it's back in?

should I take the spout out and bump it to "16" to get the real 14?

Little grey plastic connector that loock like a fuse located by the passenger strut tower. Follow the MAf wiring to the fender.

Well i tell you what, the stock setting at 10 degrees spout out compared to 14 degrees spout out plus premium fuel and it totally made a difference.

Look, don't worry about what the car does with the spout put back in it. Thats your ECU controlling the timing...its supposed to do that. There are set timing tables that it goes by. If you try to say well....spout out its 12 degrees but in its 10 so I need it at 14 degrees with the spout out to get 12.....it doesn't work that way. You'll have too much timing.

What REALLY matters is TOTAL timing. Thats the timing that matters as thats what you car sees at WOT. You ecu adds so many degrees to your base timing throughout the rpms based on throtte position among other things. The base timing plus the ecu's additional advance gets you total timing.

I understand that, was just wondering if I set it right, but it does run much better with the timing, exhaust and K&N filter w/o silencer.

So how much total timing is usuall for these 5.0's? Is there a certain rpm when the computer has all the timing in? Mine is stock. aside from the exhaust setup.
