I pulled my 98 cobra out over spring break to clean it and i noticed a loud squeaking. I think and hope its coming from an idler pulley. It went away after about 3 minutes. some times when I start it it doesn't squeak.
Does this commonly happen to a part?
Do you have any suggestions for me?

you can narrow down the noise by putting a long screw driver or extension on the nut for the pulley and put it to your ear. if it is then replace the pulley it is like 4 bucks from napa

it sounds like the tensioner pulley to me...especially with the squeaking going away after a few minutes

my only suggestion is to try to locate where it is squeaking (most likely the tensioner) with a rod before you start throwing parts at it...
