I love reading everyone's build threads and seeing their vision come to life. I figured mine was overdue.
History of the Car
In the fall of 2007, I was looking to upgrade from my 95 V6 to a GT or Cobra. After weeks of searching, I purchased a 1997 GT. I became the second owner with a tad less than 39,000 miles on the clock. The GT originally came from Texas and was stone stock upon my delivery. Below is the picture from the AutoTrader add. I have all the orginal paperwork and all receipts.
First thing was to detail it!
The Mods Begin...
My first mod was installing smoked headlamps and installing the Bullitt brake set up from my 95.
I installed an aftermarket head unit so I could rock out to my IPOD. The Aftermocked deck left a gap open. So I decided to install a gauge pod. I took a piece of Plexiglas and used a 2" whole saw to cut three holes. After that, I painted it black. I installed a Volt, Water Temp, and Vacuum gauge.
The stock steering wheel was bothering me, so I installed an FR500 Wheel (Thanks Dad).
I ditched the stock cat back for a Magnaflow Magnapack and had my friend Adam from PopsRacing tune the car.
While I was at a swap meet, I picked up the Cobra R Hood for only $25! It was pretty rough but I did the body work on it and my good friend shot the base and clear coat. Doesn't fit perfect but can't complain.
I picked up a set of bullitts
The car was starting to look nice, but the infamous 4x4 look was bothering me. I installed H&R SS Springs, Strange 10 way Adjustable Struts/Shocks, Steeda Caster Camber Plates and Maximum Motorsports Sway Bar End Links. Here is the picture of the car lowered with my friends 94 Integra.
I also had the mirrors body matched and had the windows tinted. Being a Detroit Lions fan (Don't tease) I ordered a vanity plate (MOTORCTY)
I also installed a push button starter in the center console.
Weight Reduction Mod...
Everything was going great until the Intermediate Sprague snapped in the Trans. I had the transmission rebuilt with stronger interiors and had the J-Mod installed. On the way to the Transmission shop....
I got the car back from the Trans shop, and they did a real nice job. I finally decided to do the PI SWAP. I completed the swap in early November of 2012, and I now have about 20 miles on it since the project. I am hoping in the spring to have the car tuned again by Adam.
