As for the loss of tq, a set of 4.30s will more than remedy that situation. I promise. I have a 98 4V as well

Maybe the power seat is broken. Did you try to power it further back?

yea, look at the numbers badass98svt is putting out:

1998 SVT Cobra
263rwhp/258rwtq
WMS Velocity Tube with K&N,
Sniper Tuner,
March pulleys,
MAC O/R H pipe,
Flow orig. 40's,
FRPP 9mm's

is 260 acceptable HP and 260 acceptable TQ with minor bolt ons?
intake, mid pipe, cat back, spark plug wires, pullies, and a tune are all he has that "add" HP/TQ.
thats like, $800.00 of modifications, if he gets it all used, and if the tune is an "out of the box" tune (not a dyno tune).

is that acceptable? throw a couple of hundred bux at gears, and you are smokin' some rubber brotha!

Actually, my #s are pretty low. My IMRCs were stuck shut when I did that dyno pull. Should be more around 280 rwhp. At least upper 270s

LOL, they are stuck open, now. LOL
I zip tied them open last season. But when I went on the dyno they were sticking and didn't open.
Bah, either way, I'm cleaning those bishes this week :headbang:

oh, it has dumps? no exhaust tips after the mufflers? dumps are very "droney" thats their biggest drawback.

if it has the stock H-pipe, you will want chambered mufflers. if it has an X pipe, you will want resonators. (thats kind of a rule-of-thumb... obviously you can stray away from that to make your car sound exactly how you want it to.)

no difference in leg room from 1994-2004 that i know of. there are aftermarket seat brakets that allow you to move the seat further back.

if you didnt like the cobra, look for something else... mustangs come and go. i would personally avoid a smokers car. but thats just me.

keep in mind $500.00 to a set of gears will change that car into another animal.
i gave a ride in my 1996 2v with 4.10 gears to a friend with a blown GT and he was amazed at the performance on the low end.

burns rubber into 2nd gear with only 194 RWHP ;-D lol.

dont fear the gear.

This Cobra definitely didn't feel as "put together" as the blown GT I drove. I'd really consider it if he'd fix the couple things that are wrong with it.

Question about aftermarket clutches for Mustangs...is there something that can be done to reduce the amount of pressure required? I know the clutch in my father's Z is actually about as soft as OEM, but can handle double the torque. There seems to me to be more "don't buys" for this Cobra than for that GT...I just don't know if I could stand the daily leg press in the GT (and this is from someone who leg presses 300 lbs for 3 sets of 12). I would imagine even bigger pedals would make it easier (more surface area to push on).

Well, you could always get a different clutch with a less stiff pressure plate.
But another thing is to change the clutch quadrant (it's above the clutch pedal).

Me personally, I'd probably go with the Cobra if the price is right. How much does he want for the Cobra? how many miles? What color is it?
Yes the GT is blown, but throw a blower on the Cobra and then see which one you like better.

I dunno, if you drove the two, you might have different thoughts...the GT was really nearly immaculate...paint was in better condition, seats were pristine, it didn't feel nearly as worn out. Plus it was wearing Bullits with 245 in the front and 285 in the rear.

The Cobra is listed at $6k. 107k miles on it, and red (a bit faded, though).

And it's all cost...the blown GT is 500 more, might even be able to talk him down from that. No way I'm going to match the difference I felt for $500.

Was the GT all leather as well? But for $6k I'd personally probably go with it. Offer him $5,500.

My car has 140k and just keeps taking everything I throw at it.

GT was cloth. Which is actually a plus, when cabin temps in AZ can reach 140 F.

well... im kind of at a loss.

as for the clutch, you'd have to get a different clutch set up to reduce the pressure.

as for the GT vs. cobra....

both have massive potential... i mean... check out the "builds" section and youll see 2 or 3 SOHC GT builds. they definantly hold their own. plus, this one is already blown, so all the plumbing is done... to upgrade the blower just buy a new one and bolt it on.

as for the cobra, it hasnt had a blower yet, so you could start witha blank slate heading to exactly what you want.

id lean towards the GT if its that much better...

The GT owner said he tried to put an autozone filter on the end of the Procharger intake arm, but it didn't fit. Said it needed one from Procharger. I'm looking at their site, and I don't see where you can buy their filters. Any thoughts on this?

As far as i know, you should be able to find whatever size air filter you need on Ebay.

now this is interesting. I was trying to find other pictures of procharged SN95s, and I can't seem to find one that matches the way his was plumbed. Like the filter isn't where it's supposed to be.

Take a look at the top-right image, tell me if the plumbing looks right to you:

looks like 96_SVT_Cobra's set up.

go to auto-zone or pep boys with the old filter and they can measure it and order you a K&N in almost any shape/size.

To get some perspective, I just finished looking at this fox:
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/1675504877.html

Aside from a little fender damage, a passenger window issue (needs some help getting up), and a tear on the seat, it was in pretty good physical condition. Popped the hood, lookin' good.

Then he started it up, and I about shat myself.

Remember, I've spent a good deal of time around imports. It's been probably a good 4+ years since I've been around a cam'ed V8 with exhaust. Thing sounded beautiful. There was NOTHING wrong with the way it was running. It has a Hurst shifter, some aftermarket clutch (didn't catch it), 3.73 gears.

Took it for a drive, definitely a little tricky. Stalled on me a couple times (first time in a car like this). The thing HAULS, felt faster than the Z. But at about 4,750, it acted like it was hitting a rev limiter...I know these cars red line lower than I'm used to, but it looked like it went to 5500 at least. The guy told me I needed to use the clutch more or something...doesn't sound right, I wasn't shifting when it happened, I had the loud pedal on the floor. I had him drive it back to the house, and it looked like he was shifting at just below where I was having trouble.

Well, I think I'm going to pass. AC wasn't hooked up, and it'll need cats for emissions. I'm sure that's all it would take, but having dealt with my fair share of car problems, I don't want to chance it. If I was buying a weekend racer, I'd be taking cash to him right now, he would have taken $2700.
