ok so i have a 95 gt that i cant get to start.. wierd thing is .. if i hold it in the crank posistion it begins to smoke from a hole under the consol that the ebrake cable runs through to the underside of the car... if the ebrake is down the starter makes no noise is if its up it will click once when u try to start.. if u hold it in the crank posis. and slowly lower the ebrake it will click over and over.. sounds like a dead battery or a bad solenoid.. but nope niether... new starter new optima.... so... what is it!!!!!! obviously something is grounding out somwhere causing the smoke buti dont see a harness running over the or around the tranny near the hole under the consol.... im stumped and so is everyone else on all the other stang forus ive posted on.. thanks for any help!

you need to stop what you are doing right now.. before your car catches on fire.

Don't take this as me being an asshole... but you are clearly not qualified for this kind of work.. and you should let e professional fix it... before you hurt yourself!

Calm down and let me knock this one out of the park for you... You have a bad ground... The ebrake cable is acting as your ground... its glowing red hot and melting the boot and carpet in your console. Do you have a ground going from your engine to your frame?

The starter gets its ground from the block The block from the battery. you still need the other grounds. Will you engine turn by hand.

Yes the starter gets its ground from the block... but the battery is grounded to the frame...

Run grounds From:
Battery - Frame
Battery - Block
Block - Frame

Then give it a try. Your acting like im just taking a wild guess here or something........

There is a wire from the factory yes... but people often forget to create a ground after a build
