My car has BBK shorty headers installed and they appear to rub on the steeringshaft and it makes driving the car a pain in the ass cuz the steering wheel feels so damn hard and its just plain dangerous, sometimes the weight on the shaft is so much that moving the steering wheel becomes too hard to turn.

Is there a way to fix this ? I was thinking of buying some washers and sticking them between the block and motor mount monting points to raise the entire engine a bit so it would not rub on the shaft anymore. Anything easier ? Does anyone sell some kind of spacer to raise the motor mounts from the kmember ?

That will change the phase of your drive shaft. You could take the steer shaft out and dimple the header pipe a little with a ball peen hammer. Are you sure you have the right headers, motor mounts, is the steer shaft bent?

how i fixed mine:

unbolted steering column.
unbolted steering rack.
stuffed two paint sticks between the header and the shaft.
tightened everything up.
took out paint sticks.
mine is working great.

(mark another one up for BBK)

Motor mounts are most likely worn out and collapsed. When I installed equal length BBK headers on my 91 Gt the driver side header hit the steering shaft and I could barely turn the steering wheel...went to auto zone and bought a set of motor mounts, swapped them in and I had all the room I needed. Raised the motor close to 1".

My motormounts are brandnew also and im sure my headers are designed for the 94-95 5.0 , atleast the EGR connection is in the correct spot, my steering shaft is also not bent, maybe ill just take off the header and smash it a bit were it rubs to make room for the shaft, problem is that its rubbing on the collector on the header and not on one of the tubes.
