so i bee tryin to fix my stock 95 gt. its was real running real bad, it would start n run but idle real rough n when i would drive it, it would hesitate real bad and bogged down like it wanted to die but wouldnt, all my guages were messed up. so i noticed the wires to the idle air control valve were chewed up from a mouse. i fixed that and then noticed that the pcv valve was popped out of its spot and the 2 hoses coming out under the upper untake were brooke off also. so i fixed that and i fired right up like there was nothing wrong wit it smh. but when i went to take it around the block to see if it was fixed it started running real rough when it warmed up i almost didnt make it back to my friends house n wouldnt start back up. so thats whats making me think it could be my cats or my 02 sensors. any body got any other suggestions??? iv replaced almost every thing..... plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, fuel pump, fuel press reg, maf, fuel filter, air filter, iac,.. i did noticed my ground wire from the block to the frame was broke but i dont think that would have any thing to do it it idle fine and not running when it gets warmed up. this car has been off the road few a few years cuz of this problem, i just cant seem to find the problem. thanks for any help

Grounds are extremely important. The battery to engine and engine to chassis are critical. If they are not solid the engine sensors will be sending incorrect voltage signals to the computer (ECU). That includes the IAC valve as well. No codes that I'm aware of for bad/clogged cats.

ck for codes first. KOER is not as important as KOEO.
Sounds like a PIP issue to me. the PIP is located inside the distributor (aka dizzy).
just the PIP is about $20 but will require complete disassembly of the dizzy. A remanned dizzy is about $120ish and is plug and play. new is over $200.
A bad dizzy may or may not throw a code. Mine didn't.
Every sn 5.0 will have a dizzy issue sooner or later.

Ya, I smell a distributor or TFI. Runs like crap when hot is a signature TFI problem.

I've never had a TFI die even in a Fox. But when friends replaced them, the car usualy ran bad or not at all when the engine got hot. Electronics can do funky things when circuits break down with heat. I'm not sure how prone to failure the CCRMs are in the SN, but I bet it can cause issues as well. Lastly the ECU obviously.

True. But a new Richporter can be had for about $100. 100% new and no core charge.

should be a 3 digit code.
Are you reading the flashes of the CEL?
Are you plugged in to the OBD2 port under the dash? For 94/95Gt's the test connector is still under the hood at the rear of the passenger shock tower.

Is 998 cam position sensor? Can't remember, we had the explorer throw a code for something of the 9's and I definetly wanna say it was 998... Don't quote me on it though. If it is the cps it isn't a hard fix. Ill write a post here for you incase it is but if it isn't then just ignore it:)
-Changng CPS-
1) you're going to have to take yours out, and put a new one in. If you know where yours is then skip ahead. Look on the front of your block there's a harness pluging into a cap like looking plastic head. It has two screws bolting it down.
2) Id unplug the battery just for safety reasons. Then unscrew those screws and unplug the harness.
3) pull straight up and this long gear like looking sensor will come out. Inspect it for damage. Sometimes they just go out. I mean your car is 18 years old.
4) insert your new CPS. ****key steps*** make sure the piece that connect to the harness is directly facing straight towards the front of the car. Ignoring this step will cause huge headaches later when the CPS is still acting up. If you cannot get it straight, for some reason, even though when you took the old one out it was straight, keep trying, taking it in and out. If still no luck have someone move your crankshaft using a deep socket and ratchet on the bolt on the damper pully. Just move it slowly until you get the CPS straight.
5) once you're positive it's straight, after looking at it from different angles put everything back together.
6) ***IMPORTANT STEPS*** after your car is together you HAVE to get your car on the highway no matter how rough the ride is. You need to accelerate to 60 mph and let the car slow itself down to 40. You need to do that 3 times. After that your code should disappear by itself.

Hope it helps :)

from what I read there is no crank sensor or cam sensor, the dizzy does that job on the 5.slows. I cleared the codes n ran it for awhile and but couldn't drive it but no codes came back up but still running rough. im gonna finish cutting the exhaust off n see if its the cats, if not im gonna change out the dizzy. this stang is becoming a pain in the aSS. this problem started about 7 years ago n sat for a long time cuz of this problem, if I get this thing fixed I will b the most happiest man alive
