Where is the best spot to hook up the chains to lift out the engine from my Mach. I can't drop it out the bottom safely, so it is coming out the old fashoned way. I normally use bolt holes in the front and rear of the heads. But you cant do that with this thing, and I don't know if I trust the intake bolts. They seem awefully small for the weight of the engine.

Sugestions?

Matt... Here's some pics a buddy of mine took when he was installing his motor from the top. Take a look at them and see if you can tell where he hooked the chains to.

Thanks Josh, that was helpful. It looks like he used the bellhousing bolts on the back side, but the front is tough to tell. I will check my engine the next time I am there to see where he mounted the fronts.

I used the manifold studs. Another thing you can do is either call the dealership or a parts store and order brackets that fit on either side of the motor specifically designed so you can lift it out.

I stopped at the dealer today. Their mechanic said either use the exhaust manifold boles, or lift it out by the exhaust manifolds. They also said I should split the trans.

I told them the car was junk and I would just cut out the radiator supports in the front.

Yeah, the manifold studs were the best spot I could find.
