I have Nitto 555's and I love em. Everything I've heard about Sumicrappos is they are cheap and you get what you pay for. I dont even have problems with my Nittos in the rain as long as I drive mildly when its wet out. I never tried the BFG g forces but I think they are supposed to be real good also. Good luck

i run the 555 on the front and the nitto DR's on the back and love the tire. My brother runs the 555 all around on his 96 cobra that puts out 530rwhp. The tires are great,

the only good thing about the sumitomo was that I was able to fit a 335 size tire in back, otherwise they have poor perfomance and do not last all that long either.....

You're comparing apples and oranges. Sumis are great for DD cars that are not doing double duty as a track car. Nittos are more for the performance track car. If you're at under 250rw and you're not trying to be a track monster, the Sumi's are fine. I ran a 13.98 with Sumi's and 255rwhp.

I have sumi II's and they are in fact junk, they are *to me* dangerous tires on wet roads. They just don't channel water away very well. Mine have plenty of tread but I'm ordering new tires very soon.

I'll probably never own another tire than Nitto.

Try some m/t dr's or some bfg dr's and they will change your mind real quick.

For the comparision, nittos are better. I run sumi's on my car and they dont hook well but for 98 bucks a tire what do you expect. I dont race my car at the track anyways.

I personally and almost everyone I know hates nitto's besides the sole fact they are the only dr that lasts awhile on the street. They take alot of heat to warm up and then it destroy the treadlife bought them for. I know most people will disagree or know people who have hooked great etc etc.. but I know and have seen for a fact the m/t and bfg hook much better, with alot less burnout.

I have the Nitto NT-05 and I cut 1.7 60' with 450hp and 4.10's on "street" tires that cost me 180 a piece. Please tell me how I can beat that? lol The Nitto NT-05R just came out too. Way better tread life than MT's and far less expensive. If I wanted something stickier I just get slicks.

I've ran Sumitomo HTR ZIII, and they were actually not that bad. They held up at the track pretty well, had good grip on in the wet, and they are dirt cheap. I have never tried Nittos, but it's a regular high performance summer, so I can't imagine that it's THAT much better than Sumitomo HTR ZIII, if it's any better at all. Sumitomo is also cheaper than Nitto. 40 dollars a tire cheaper to be exact, if you compare the pricing from Tire Rack and Discount Tire. Tire size was 275/40R17

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+Z+III&partnum=74YR7HTRZ3&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/tires/nitto/product/submitProductSize.do?r=CALINT|pc|91324&pc=40170

So, for someone who does not need every little bit of performance if there is any advantage at all, I think you'd rather keep the 160 dollars in your pocket. Also, while Nitto is a directional tire, Sumitomo is not, which makes it perfect for rotating the tires, and keeping the tread lasting longer.

One bad thing i can say about the 555s is that they dry rot extremely fast. I have seen this happen personally on about 3 or 4 different occasions. I was reading up about it a little online and one thing i saw was after the first year expect most of the performance of the tire to drop off. Mine still had some good tread left but they were dry rotting so bad the tires were leaking air through the cracks. I wouldn't buy them again; 555R though I have only good things to say about.
