Hello guys,
some of you know I'm currently building my "Eleanor" car, and I would like to supercharge it. I understand how superchargers work & so on, but my question is witch kit to go with.
From what I have read Pro charger seems to have a nice kit.
However I DO NOT have ANY room in front of the a/c condenser area because of the Eleanor nose so what ever kit I get will have to be in the "engine area" only.
ANY help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Eleanor 95.

so you're saying you don't want a supercharger with an intercooler. I think all prochargers run them, i'd say best bet would be a vortech or a kenne bell.

Exacally,
I have no room for anything that normally goes in the "behind / under" the bumper area on our cars. I wasn't sure if all Prochargers had the intercooler.

Prochargers generally are intercooled although I've seen a few without.

Most common non intercooled would be a vortech for a centri or a kenne bell. I personally would go with the vortech. No a fan of non intercooled twin screws.
If you are looking at buying a new one, many online venders such as American Muscle sell the non intercooled vortech for the 94/95s 5.0s.

Keep in mind as well. A non intercooled system will be limited on power. But, if running a stock block/trans/etc it really won't matter as the blower will not be the only limited factor anyway.

Paxton, powerdyne, vortech, Kennybell all have simple SC kits that don't need nose space.

I believe vortech has a intercooler that fits on top of the passenger valve cover. Air to water. Research it.

I believe Raffaelli is talking about the aftercooler, and I've never heard anything good about Powerdyne.

Also if you still want to run cooling without an intercooler you can always run a meth injection setup for a few hundred bucks.

thanks guys,
I guess what I was looking for was for someone to say "I have this one, it is great because bah bah bah so on"... I know vortech, paxton, procharger all are reputable companies just want to hear some feedback of the kits you guys were running and why you liked them.

oh okay.

I have a KB on my 5.0, imo it's the best street blower because it gives you the flattest tq curve and you have instant power whenever you want it. It requires no extra plumming and is a self contained unit.

if HP numbers and lowest ET is your goal the KB is probably not the best choice but as far as on the street its a lot of fun.

Eleanor I'm doing a non intercooled supercharger on mine, i have room for the intercooler in the front but not under the supercharger. It works as is but it heats up fast. Going to try meth injection to cool it down in the spring. ill let you know how that works :p

that is pretty much the combo I had in mind, have you had your car on a dyno, how is it on the street. most of my freinds cars are in the 400 plus hp range.....damn SRT Hemi s ..lol
Anyway that is where I would like the car to be and still be streetable

Unfortunately the one time on the dyno my tune was not completed but i can tell you without the meth injection the car made 300whp and 340wtq at only 3000rpm on a Mustang dyno. As far as what it'll make when complete I'm hoping for 400whp but I don't know enough about tuning and such to make a good guess.

As far as it's street manners they are great, it drives just like a mild cam 5.0 until you crack into boost. The thing I like bout the KB is it feels like you have a much larger engine instead of a 5.0 with boost.

Like everyone will tell you the main problem with KBs is the amount of heat they generate, I'm running 9psi and my intake temps were over 200 degrees so you can't be as aggressive with timing and boost as with centrifugal superchargers, but the meth injection will fix the heat problem.

vortech and paxton are the most efficient out of the bunch and work fine with or without a intercooler. vortech owns paxton and the units are identical internally on similar models... the only difference is the paxton case is billet whereas the vortech is cast. the exception is the novi2000 as that is the only paxton only unit

personally i would not use a procharger kit as they still have leak issues and impellers that frequently touch down. search around and you will see what i mean.

as far as real world experience goes i have had 4 different model vortech blowers on my 93 over the past 10+ years. a,s,t, and ysi trims to be exact and all non-intercooled up until recently i installed meth injection.

car was 100% stock when i installed the a-trim a little after they were released. never really did anything other then drive it on the street and it made a huge difference. eventually i did the h/c/i and had the a upgraded to a s trim. that motor made 560 rwhp. i sold the s to upgrade to a t-trim and then swapped out the 302 for a new 331 i was building. t-trim on the 331 made 632 rwhp then was sold. ysi has been on the car since the ysi was released and it made over 700 on pump gas non intercooled, no meth.
