Looking for a budget hci set up for my 95 gt. Looks like SVE has released there heads again . Price is good My goal is 300whp. I want somthing basic . I'm thinking sve 170 heads, b303 cam, with a trick flow upper and lower . Will be on stock computer untill I can go holly . Anyone run these heads with good luck ?

I also am interested in the SVE heads, the smaller ones specifically. Their flow numbers aren't the greatest as shown on a couple comparisons on YT, but the weight savings and bump in power would be enough for me. I would drop the cam though personally. You will retain more of that low end grunt and the stock computer will be much happier with a stock cam. You will still have a lot more go under your foot. The stock cam is a pretty good piece, and will give you the least amount of headache. You said you are getting a tune but consider what I mentioned.

I just dont want to run into piston to valve clearance issues . I'm not an engine builder by ANY means. I'm going to have a hard enough time doing this work my self. From what i read those heads can handle cam with a .500 lift without running into issues . That's why I was going to keep it simple unless I can steal someone's set up that's proven with those heads . Anderson makes a few proven hci kits but they are expensive compared to sve heads with a used trickflow upper and lower

Understood. Note you should always check PTV clearance when doing any changes here, regardless if someone else said "this combo clears". The LMR website says the SVE 170s will clear up to a .575 lift.

Also don't dismiss the Explorer GT40 uppers/lowers - they flow almost as well as the Cobra and can be had for relatively cheap. *** Shameless plug as I have an upper/lower for sale here in the classifieds lol.

This is all good advice . Still would like to see someone chime in who has run these. I'm not a fan of stuff made in china but I feel like lmr has a reputation to keep up and hope they wouldn't put there name on junk

I would also like to add if nobody else has, always take cylinder heads to a machine shop, especially lesser known brands like the heads in question. It is always possible (more likely in todays parts environment) to have a defect, like leakage past the valves, or machining debris in the passage ways.
