Hey whassup. I was on svtperformance.com and my buddy told me about this site. I feel right at home here! I have a 1998 gt and im about to put a 1999 pi motor in it. I was wondering what all kind of stuff i should be looking forward to screwing up while doing this. Just need some advice on what ill have to change or is it a direct swap?

Coil pack mounts and extra coolant sensor in the intake are only big things

the swap was no big deal, but I did get a romeo PI engine so that helped considering i was able to reuse my front cover...

I recently swapped a 2001 PI motor into my 1998 GT.

The swap was very straight forward. Just just need to reuse the timing cover from the NPI motor so you can use the coil packs. All the 1998 wiring is used. I also replaced all gaskets on the motor.

Here is my build thread discussing the swap in detail!!!

My modded npi dynod at 186rwhp. Then the pi with same mods netted 242rwhp and 280rwtq...

Big improvement lol

Oh yes. Yeah im definately looking forward to it. I would like to do some kind of f/i down the road at some point. Ive heard the stock motors can handle around 600hp before stuff starts breaking...i only want about 400.

Yeah im just gonna do gears exhaust and a short throw for a while and beef up my suspension and do some body work. Then the real fun will start.

200 hp can break a motor easy. It all depends on how efficent that engine is which will determine how much power it can handle

Put a 04 PI motor in my 97 after i threw a rod in the NPI motor. With every bolt on aside from headers, and a tune my car made 255/292. Thats 44 more hp and 32 more ftlbs than my old motor(211/260). It was a nice improvement to say the least.
