I have a 98 shell (basically) that im swapping the driveline out of a 00 gt into. But when I when to get a tranny mount only Ford and latemodelrestoration has them. Ok great at least I can get them. But wait there's more

99-00 tranny are different that 96-98. Not only that but those two cross members are different. Completely. My question is. I'm using the electronic stuff in the t45 to work with the 00 harness and computer, so what cross member or adapter can I use with my factory cross member will work with my swap.

The guys I've heard of doing it swap their BW T45 tailhousings onto it. This not only retains the mechanical speedo reading, but should make the mounts all line up. However it sounds like you may be using all the wiring from the GT?

You don't need a mech. speedo with a Speed-Cal. I have a 99 OSS T5 (V6 trans) in my 94 GT, just had to recalibrate.

As far as the crossmember goes, this site proved useful.

- A 1996-1998 T-45 can be replaced with either a 1999-2001 T-45 or a 2001-2004 TR3650 by using an electronic device called the "Dallas Mustang Speed-Cal" to convert the speedometer signal.
- A custom, or modified cross member is needed to install a TR3650 in a 96-98 Mustang.
- A 1999-2001 T-45 can be replaced directly with a 2001-2004 TR3650.
- The reverse light switch from the T-45 is retained when converting to a TR3650.

Since the T45 and TR3650 have identical mounting. You can use that as a research tool. I found this crossmember, that should work.

I will be using everything from the 2000 gt. It will pretty be like, a 2000 with a 1998 shell. Everything will be swapped over. So I will need to us the electronic speedo signal versus the mechanic. I have a tuner already to adjust for the rear gears and speedo calibration.

I think I found my answer.... I had measured my t45 outta the 2000 bell housing to rear mounting holes. And had another buddy measured the same from his 96 gt with a t45...

I think the only mounting difference would have been where the cross member would have been placed in either car. The 99-mid01 sit up in the transmission tunnel. The 96-98 mount to the mounting brackets in the frame rails.

So I ordered a mount for a t45 for a 98 gt with a t45. We shall see how it goes....

Thanks for the help. I'm going to keep at this

The Stifflers cross members are nice. I have one in my 98GT and just put one in my cobra. The best part is you can use a Poly trans mount which won't work with a stock GT mount. You're going to love your car when you're done.
