I'll prolly buy used.

My car see's ALOT of track time, not much highway time, alot of city driving.

I'll spend about $1000 for everything, maybe a tad more.

HATE auto's, so those wont work for me. Trying to get away from a manual trans, kinda liking the C4, but what else is there?

Should I buy a cheap stock C4 for $100 and build it up?

Unfortunately, I don't know much about transmissions.. =(

Track time + T5 don't go together in the same sentence.

Buy a used Tremec 3550/TKO/TKO 500

X2.. If you currently have a manual trans setup, swapping to a TKO etc.. would be your best bet.
I bought my TKO setup 94-95 with 3,000 miles on it for $1300 (trans, bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, alum. ds)
and i wouldn't have it any other way. It's performed without a hitch for the last 2 years for me, and I am not
easy on my car..

Im tempted to get a C4 from the junk yard and build it up. $150 for the trans, then do it up with a trans brake, valve body, etc.. My buddy says pro shifted trans are a blast to drive.

Maybe he means the Auto slushbox that came stock? It is a little misleading but that's how I interpreted it.

A viscous coupling by any other name, is still a viscous coupling.

Damn, Shaekespeare and Mechanical Engineering all in one quote. I rule.

Takes a lot of work to make a C4 strong enough to beat the fack out of.

- C4 Transmission
- Reverse Manual Valve Body
- Hardened input shaft 24 or 28 spline
- Torque Converter
- SFI Flywheel
- SFI Pro Fit Bellhousing
- Custom Design Dipstick and Filler Tube with Lock Top and Hat Seal
- 18000 GVW Transmission Cooler the will handle summer street use
- Self Locking Torque Converter Nuts and Bellhousing Bolts
- Complete set of Fittings and Cooler Lines
- Neutral Safety Switch, Shifter Cable and Brackets
- Deep Aluminum Transmission Pan with Built-in Drain Plug
- Pro Shift Servo
- Nuts, Bolts and Misc. Hardware ? Everything you need!
- SBF Multi-Fit Blockplate
- Alto Red Eagle Power Pack Extreme Duty Clutches and Bands

That's the basics to a C4 that can take a beating.

Yes, sorry thats what I meant. My uncle is very good with C4's, he would be building me a transbraked C4.

You can buy a direct kit from Performance Automatic to build one yourself.

You have me interested. Would you happen to have a link to this?

If it matters, my car is on spray. My buddy mentioned something about getting a nitrous convertor.

Im tempted to buy a used built C4, but Im a little uneasy about that because Id rather have something new..
