T5 to C4 swap, tranny mount doesnt work?

I am doing a t5 to c4 swap in my 94 GT and i have always been told just flip the transmission cross member and it will bolt right up. My problem is no matter how i flip the cross member the transmission mount is about 2 to 4 inches in front of my cross member, has anyone had this problem before?

grind the tack welds so the cross member will move on the tubular pieces
