you can do about anything you want to man. I have the xcal2 for my L and it controls almost any function you can think of. However on the tune stuff if you dont know what your doing take it to a dyno shop and let them do it for you. Plus it should be done ON the dyno anyway so you know your a/f is dead on. But yea you can cut off cats/ scan error codes / bump fuel pressure / timing / spark curve / rpm set timing / .......

They can do everything on the dyno, but you can't fine tune it later, you need to head back and lay down another 150.

Which tuner to get kinda depends on who you trust touching your car, and what they use. If they are Diablosport only, then that's the way you go.

when i say you need to do it on a dyno, that is for max output and correct a/f ratio. You can buy " pre ' loaded tunes on them for your car and they are OK but wont bring out the full potential of your mods. Lets say you put on headers / catback/ mid pipe / pulleys/ CAI /and a throttle body.......you tell the place your getting it from your mods, they set it with a tune ........you get it and load it on your car. That tune would be OK.....but if you want MAX power you need to take it to a dyno and have a custom tune done.

Trav, I went through the same situation when I got my Cobra. After tons of research I went with an Xcal2 from Lasota Racing. The Xcal3 is the thing to get now. All do the same basic thing, I would just check around and see what tuners in your area use most.

I dunno if they send you a tune or anything? Another tuner, I haven't used, is Amazon, they give you a year of free re-tunes for any mods you get or whatever.

Don can email you updated files, you datalog and send back to him, he forwards you an updated file.

Pauls should be able to nail it the first time, so for you a blank Xcal or one with a canned SCT tune isn't a bad idea.

For that matter Pauls should be able to sell you an Xcal

i don't really understand them either :dunno: do they give you like three tunes that you put on a chip and plug it into the ecu? and then you can reprogram the chip or what?

Let's say i had a tune on my car from one of those tuners. If i unhooked my battery for 15 mins or so would everything go back to the stock settings and I would have to reprogram it?

and is there anyway with these things that you could cause serious damage to your car?

Also, where would be a good place to get a tune in missouri? j/w for future. I know adrenaline does terrible tunes, and i've never heard anything about steigemeiers.

Usually they give you two or three tunes. Either generic, or somewhat tailored for your mods and fuel type. PLus it will hold your stock tune

No, it stays in the computer, the stock tune gfoes in the programer and is replaced by one from the tuner

Yes, if you unhooked it in the middle of programing, it could probably eff your ecu pretty good.

Can't help you there, lol. If you mean Steigmeirs the blower people, they have a pretty good rep.
