getting around 15mpg on the hwy

recent maintenance:
1. MAF clean
2. TB clean
3. IAC clean
4. upper plenum I/M gasket
5. EGR base gasket
6. TB base gasket
7. IAC base gasket
8. vaccum line from under plenum to small cylinder on passenger side with electrical connection that then exits that cylinder and goes into the firewall
under the passenger side hood hinge

It ran great for a couple of days, really thought that I had fixed this issue b/c of the vaccum leak. The line that I replaced that went under the upper plenum was very dry rotted and cracked. I also found that the EGR valve was not properly connected to the tube that runs to the header primary.

On another note, the EGR valve base gasket appeard to have been blown??? I have never seen this before.

The idle is much better than it was, but I am still having an issue where the car does not want to idle while warming up. Also a STRONG gasoline smell at all times.

Mods are in my sig on the 94.

not sure what to do, I am leaning toward a faulty EGR valve since it helps the engine come to temperature and my idleing issue seems to be during the transition from open loop to closed loop???

have you checked to see if your fuel lines are leaking at the connections? I replaced my lines with braided cable and found the connectors were a little touchy and there was gass leaking down the hard pipes. If you smell fuel there is a leak somewhere, follow your nose.

What is an e10? And the CEL comes on during the open loop to closed loop phase, but then goes off once in closed loop? Need to get a code reader.

e10 is the 10% ethanol mix most gas stations have now. I've noticed nearly a 20% decrease in gas milage in my truck since they started mixing it in there. Sounds like you might have a little more going on than that though.

had same problem. ended up being the rubber grommet conneecting to the tank. was wore and dry rotted. everything id fill up it would drip out. anything below a half a tank, everytime i made a left turn it would pour out. one of my buddies noticed it when he was following me one day.

apparently you are... youve changed just about everything that DOESNT affect your air/fuel ratio, and you wonder why your gas mileage sucks... But its ok... I'll accept your apology when you realize I'm right.

Doesn't the ACT sensor and the coolant temp sensor (the one that goes to the computer not the gauge) play a part in A/F ratio also? Just asking for my info. I've discovered that I have another vac leak today, the air directional switch for the heat and AC no matter where i put it, is only coming out the defrost. So, I'll fix that and then do the O2's if needed since the vac leak could be the issue.

ACT is more for spark control, and ECT will get you in and out of OL...

replace your O2 sensors
