well reading the magazine on the architecture of this engine, adding a supercharger will indeed mean upgrading rods and pistons right off the bat. one of the engines key points is the high compression of 11:1. so i wonder what thats going to do for supercharging since we all want more horsepower. food for thought.

honestly, i dont see why people are fussing over the new 5.0, its completely different than the old one. modulars and pushrods, lol.

in certain aspects yes. different crank sensor location, longer crank snout and electronic power steering. otherwise not so much. all in all its still a modular. just new Tecknologee :p

Running low boost should still be ok on that engine. The Shelby GT350 concept added a Whipple to it so it should be ok with the right boost and tune.

i agree. i bet a supercharger and a full port job will make that thing a force to be reckoned with.

I think 412 horsepower out of 5 liters on 87 octane gas is pretty exciting.

I guess the next GT500 will be a supercharged 5.0, with forged rods.

The 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords article is excellent. I don't like that the new six-speed transmission has skip shift, though. Also, it's rated for 375 lb-ft of torque and the engine puts out 390. I'm not sure how that adds up.

The name is just a name. Its not the form its in, but the power this thing is producing on pump gas from the factory.
