Re: Looking at a built 95! Come in

The 495 hp is on the engine dyno. Add about 20-23% drive train its at about 380-395 rwhp.
Add a turbo at about 5 pounds of boost 6 MAX and that's a fast ass street car.

I know its not just as easy as "swapping blocks" but what I'm saying is I would be able to use all the same internals.

I suppose so long as you don't grenade the engine before you get it apart. 20-23% drive-train loss seems a bit steep, particularly with a stick trans.

If I buy that particular mustang I wont boost it, at least not right away because what it has will be more than enough for me for now.

As far as the drive-train loss that was just an estimated guess.

I still think you could find a better deal..

Your talking about just replacing the block.. Man dont waste the time and money. Sounds like a money pit.. For what you are going to pay for the car and the block upgrade. You could get a Termi or something..

Also There is alot more gratification and assurance when u build your own ride.

Re: Looking at a built 95! Come in

Everyone is asking the same ballpark price. 8-9k for a built low mileage sn.
And I wouldn't upgrade the block until I wanted to boost the car. I'm not going to buy a termi for 16k that has almost 90 thousand miles on it, and probably more than likely beat to shit. And imo, I see the 99-04 body style way too much and I don't think I would ever own one.

I guess I'll just keep saving.

Ill sell you my car for 2 grand or a close reasonable offer. It has a few problems but the car is solid and just needs some love.

Well, stop for a minute. If YOU were going to build an SN95, how would you do it from stock. Or are you just looking for "any" built SN. I still don't get it though, DO you want to build one, or do you want one built?

There's nothing wrong with that SN95 you posted. It's not a car built for boost. If you want one built for boost then look for that. The car is putting down plenty of HP. Like I said, how fast/HP is the fastest car you've ever driven? If you think you want a boosted car, as specially if you think you're going to replace the block then don't get this one.

If you wanted a boosted car, you should have boosted your cobra.

When you were selling your cobra you were all bout building and how much you could get done with the money? What happened?

I'd almost sell you my car, but I've been noticing the price of cars out there is way different than out here... So I would probably be asking too much. Plus I like this one now. Are you willing to come out here and find a car? Cause there are some pretty nice ones out west a lot of times.

I agree there are a lot of nice ones out there.

Username182's car is one of them.

Re: The FIND a car for Mike thread.

I thought about boosting my cobra. But it just wasn't logical at all, at least for the kind of job I have. I would have needed full suspension, including tubular K, coil-overs, new shock/struts, bump-steer kit, the turbo kit itself, and all the other miscellaneous parts to make it work. (injectors, maf, fuel pump) And on top of all that have the fear of blowing it up after I dropped all that money after the tune. It having 130k miles. Plus it had started to grind going into second.

So I sold it.

So... now I have 9k to spend. And I want the perfect one, being built or stock. It doesn't matter to me.
Its not that I want a boosted car. I just want a pretty fast one. OR at least one faster than my brothers slo-balt! LOL

The engine and trans alone are worth more than that. I bet I could get him to go down to 2k. I called and but no answer.
Too bad the rear panel is crushed in. But wait wait! http://richmond.craigslist.org/pts/2081500543.html

Yeah but from what it appears that might be frame damage better to just buy and part out.
