Its ALL in the tune guys, yes there is limits to the stock crappy rods and opinions vary on what that is. There is TONS of guys pushing 500rwhp on the stock block and they drive their L's every day......and drive them HARD. The general consensus is that after you go beyond the 450rwhp mark your on borrowed time as the saying goes. But if you have a GREAT " safe " tune......you could drive the wheels off and never have a problem. Its all in the luck of each person I guess :dunno: Ive seen guys throw rods through their block with 400rwhp and others with 550rwhp :crying: :crying: :crying: its not a set number that causes the failure.

Im not in a DANGER zone with mine, I dont BEAT on my truck, nor do I do 100mph blast on a regular basis :hammer: :hammer: and to boot I have a expert in the Lightning tuning game that does my dyno tunes for me. AVT Performance in Loris South Carolina is a Lightning engine builder / Dyno shop , he owns a 10 second L himself that he built and tuned as well as countless others around the south. I have full confidence in his ability to keep mine safe and NOT to go that extra step that would put me in the " vented block club " :crying: :crying:

My next step is to go to a 2.3 KB ( when I find one on the classified section, because they are no longer made so I have to get a used one ) going to this blower will not really give me a boost in peak power, it just gives a much flatter curve in terms of hp and tq over the rpm band. Pretty close to what my numbers would be now, just much higher where its lower at now with the ported eaton. Then after I ride with that for a while......maybe by the end of summer or fall.......

Im looking at a LFP shortblock :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley:....... :)

Aren't you close to splitting that block yet?

a 5.0 would at 450+ but a modular 4.6/5.4 can take up to 1000+

where did you get your numbers at?? the 5.0 seems about right but everything i have researched says a 4.6 is about tapped around 600-650...

go on MF and around to a couple sites like powerhouse. The blocks can take it, seen to many teksid and iron and wap blocks go past the 1000hp mark. Its all about the tune and the internals. Theres a 98 saleen/gt on MF making 840 and hes not done. I'll be 1000+ in the next year
