Hello. Around 2 years ago after almost 10 years without a fun car, I started trying to put my first Mustang (an 84 GT) back together as a street car. It had sat since 04. Was woring on the 5 lug conversio. When the wife said Nope. So the hunt was on. I found a 97 "GT" (turned out to be a 248a but I digress) on a car lot and was able to track down the previous owner. I discovered it had the engine/trans from an 02. It had long tube headers, x pipe, 373 gears, & rear UCA/LCA's. It also had a 4in cowl hood. So for 2000 I bought it.

So the first thing I had to do was clean it up. I got rid of the plastidip on the hood. Then, with the heater core needing replacing, I decided to change out the dash.

The only other changes Ive made were, replacing the tinted headlights with Depo Cobra headlights. I found a Cobra hood, Ive put new carpet in. I found some replacement interior parts at the Pick n Pull I need to install. My steering wheel is toast! I have the speedo gear repair to do still, a new AC condensor ready to install. I have a rear end girdle I need installed along with my sub frame connectors. My dad bought me some seats from Jegs but I havent been able to get them to work. I dont have a garage or shop so I am doing it all in the driveway. But I have seen alot of good ideas I want to borrow..

great job, replacing a dash is a real pita job. looks just like my 96 gt 248a does, except for the crappy repaint on my car, lol.
02 engine is a great starting point. why does the hood look like pacific green and not the deep forest green?

TY, it was. The new dash didnt come with the harness so I cut it away from the original. I spray bombed it and couldnt find Pacific Green (hated the white as much as the plastidip). I sold that hood and got a real cobra hood.. its DFG but has the same condition paint as the whole car so it fits the look
