i've been running a 160 degree for about 2 and half years now. i've been sitting on 180 degree thermo for a few months now, my 5.0 is my daily street pounder. i've gotten it from a 15.7 with 2.73's to low 14's with 3.73's my question is do any of you think putting the 180 thermo in will help me? even if it doesn't run any faster think it would help the motor overall?

Yeah 160* is way to cool..doesn't let the engine get to a good operating temp.

180 is the coolest I would run.

it will do nothing for performance but being that it was a 160 before it was always in open loop. Stock is 195 and usually you dont want to go below 180. It wont hurt anything if you do but not everything gets up to normal operating temp

i ran it when i lived in the high desert, thin hot a*s air.

i think i'll get off my a*s and swap it out for my 180.

Yeah out here in the desert during the summer a 160 works great but I could see in more milder climates a 180 would be better.
