I will admit to the crime of letting my car run out of gas. I've let it run out til it cuts off a couple of times in the past couple of months. Honestly I'm just lazy I don't feel like stopping all the time to get gas, problem with that is I live so far from any gas stations so when I do actually go to get gas I run out. The fact that my gas gauge doesn't work doesn't help the problem at all. Anyway, it didn't really have any problems till Friday. I was stuck in traffic and it cut off cause it was over heating (another issue my car has, it's not over heating but it thinks it is), well I crank it back up and pull into to the parking lot of the place I was trying to get to. I let the car sit for a good 25 minutes. I cranked it back up and it sounded like it was legit over heating, though even the gauge didn't say it was and why would it when its been sitting turned off for almost half an hour. By the time I make it to the exit of the parking lot the car revs down and dies. It wouldn't crank for a little while. When it finally did, it seemed normal again. I drove it tonight and it seemed like theres a long reaction time from when you push the gas pedal to when the car actually revs. Like it has very little power. This is during normal driving, the best way I can describe the feeling is like when you're going slow in a high gear and try to accelerate but don't really go anywhere. While I'm driving, I can hear a low, fast tapping noise. It sounds like its near the firewall right in front of the driver, but it's quiet and fast. I'm wondering if it has to do with my fuel pump. Any ideas?
