Suspension, beefed up oil cooler and radio, lack of air conditioning, back seats, and stereo. The certificate that says it's a cobra R. It's still gonna be a cobra r no matter what you do to it. Just like how my gt is going to a gt whether I leave it stock or shove a 2jz in it. I understand maybe it'd be different if I owned one but I guess what I don't understand is why you're knocking a guy for wanting to go faster?
you kinda contradicted your whole argument by saying maybe it would be different. my whole point is....why take a rare car and do all that to it.....when he could have had the exact same result with a gt.....and then he's not hacking up one of ford's rarest vehicles.

it is exactly what the VIN says it is, a Cobra R and that doesn't change. For the record i'm modding the hell out of my mystic. javi and opal nice to "see" you guys again, both sick cars.

that R is sick, saw one dead stock one in person. very cool

I'm against the bubble thing with cars. I have a limited edition mustang, not as rare as this one, but damn it I will mod and race the sh*t out of it, and when the engine quits, A stronger one will go in. Ford didn't build these cars to show how big the owner's wallet is, they are MEANT to race. You'd be REALLY pissed at the thread at the M1R right now, it's got a much of modded 00 cobra r's. It's like owning a Boss 429. Yes it's worth a butt load, but I would swap out all of Ford's smogging, performance robbing parts and swap the REAL cam, carb etc that the engine had when it was used in nascar, and I would drive it and race it.

REAL car modders and enthusiats don't give a crap what model it is, whatever they want to go fast with they will. It's the people who buy it as a status symbol think "OMGZ he modded the RARIEREST Mustang made!!111!!!1!!!"

Ok well i will love to own one of these cars and i would say going and taking a good example of the car and modifying it like this is not to cool..
1. because its rare
2. because its factory rare
3. because well dammit just because lol

But for real in this time period it hold a little respect as being something that a huge car company made and did to seek performance and give the racer that little edge. If i were to do these things i would just go buy a gt or a v6 and mod the crap out of it since its all being replaced anyways.. I know there was a issue a few yrs back in MM&FF of a guy modifying his R but then again as soon as he drove it the engine went on him.. So i will go to say if the engine goes and its not a prime example of a R then fuck it gut that bitch some more and make it into a sweet ass CobraR..

one last thing. I know like how they have the cobra jet cars if its the original engine and it comes from the factory like that you can use it in drag racing. I remember seeing someone doing that to a 00R and having some fun..

Nice car i will say and a nice collector item...

Car doesn't look cut up in any way. The motor had been changed. Maybe if it was a real cobra r race car the ones you could order with no vin number or nothing. The prototype sn95s.

All he did was put a bigger motor in it

So essentially you're saying, ba97, you don't care that he mods it, you don't care he races, you onkly care that he DRAG races it and doesn't road race it?

maybe he did drive the crap out of it and blew the original motor, then what would you say? Still a cool car.

i'm saying he basically took what that car was meant to be and changed it completely. and let's say he did blow the motor....i would have put another 351 in it. cuz that's what made it the way it was. to each their own. but i think he ruined a rare car. just my opinion. i personally wouldn't do that to it. will i mod the hell out of my cobra? yes....i am in the process of doing so.

if it's not the numbers matching block the car came with then it doesn't matter if you get every last sticker and chalk mark right it's still "ruined" to someone who wants a concourse car, so if something catastrophic happened to the origional block itself then no harm no foul for upgrading to a blown 427 motor.. . .

aside from a tire change it's good to go on the road course still, doesn't sound like the suspension was set up for drag racing only.

not sure why you're so mortified, and honestly it's probably the most tastefully upgraded Cobra R i've seen to date

some gt/v6 drivers could feel the same about modding a cobra. Both are a limited edition car, it goes both ways.

I would rock the hell outta it. Would not need to be so carefull about not blowing the numbers matching motor. At this point whats it matter what is in it as long as it isn't a stock V6? :)

The 427 small block is still a 351 Windsor based motor. And ruined it I'd doesn't say anywhere in the add he removed sway bars and put 90/10's and 50/50's in it prolly still handles just the same but now has alot of power.

I see what both sides are saying. On one hand its a really cool car modded out. On the other hand, why not make a less cool car cool and leave the cobra r alone since it's already badass.

It comes down to personal opinion. I'd personally leave it stock, but if someone doesn't feel the same thats cool too. The only thing that matters is that he didnt swap something stupid in it.
