Throttle cable binding, is that even possible?

On the way home from work I noticed that the throttle took more effort to press down than it usually does. I have done the "hair trigger throttle mod." (took the slack out of the cable)

When pushing the pedal, it felt like something was sticking or binding. I haven't heard of throttle cables binding, but anything that moves can wear, so maybe it is possible.

I'm going to take the hair-trigger mod out (just a few zipties). Is there a way to adjust the throttle cable at the throttle body instead? Anddd is there a way to lubricate the cable? Probably really hard to get any lube in the cable's sheath.

Any ideas?

My cobra was like that when I bought it. Previous owner said it was the TB sticking. I re routed the cable in the engine compartment slightly and problem solved.
