Hi all a friend of mine has a 2003 new edge and has just got a new throttle body but unlike when I got mine his throttle stop screw is not fitted and set. It just has a note attached saying fit if necessary. So do the new edges need this throttle stop screw ? If not why are they fitted ?

every car needs it in some sort or another as the throttle body is left slightly open for the idle to be correct.

I was under the impression that the IAC valve was used to control idle air ?
I’ve found instructions to set up the throttle/idle base setting but it’s for the early SN95’s not for the new edge. Plus the ECU I thought was the thing that actually controls and decides what the final idle rpm is ?
So how much should the throttle be cracked open on a new edge ?

the amount that the tb needs to be open will vary from temp/pressure conditions, the IAC makes adjustments for that to allow it to idle at the same rpm. When I set up my holley efi it said to try to adjust it open the tb 4-7% if IIRC so that when its idling hopefully the IAC only needs to be slightly open to control the idle.
