Well I finished my PI swap today and I have an oil leak on the driver's side valve cover. Not a problem, will fix that tomorrow. The problem is there is a ticking noise that I cannot isolate because I only had the car cranked maybe 10 seconds because of the spewwing oil leak. I am pretty sure that it is not PTV problems because I cranked the motor over 15 or 20 times before we started it and they did not hit at all. I am wondering that since I have a pretty big leak that there might be enough oil pressure for the lifters and all that stuff to work correctly since they were dry when they went in or possibly the timing chains tensioners since they are oil pressure dependent as well. Does anyone have any ideas? Hopefully when I fix the leak it will get the pressure that it needs and everything will work just fine.

1) Lifters cuz of the new cams.
2) Mani to H connection

Can you get a video of it ? How many miles on the car ? You gotta give us as much info on the car itself.

Did you prime the oil system before you started it ?

Not sure if I know what you mean by priming the oil system. We turned the engine over with the key but disconnected the coils so it wouldn't fire about fifteen or twenty times, then we connected the coils and cranked it up for real. As for the exhaust I don't know how it could be that it definately doesn't sound like an exhaust leak. Not sure if the lifters are pumping up because I only had it on for like ten seconds maybe.

Probably your lifters, but for safety and peace of mind I would double check for PTV.

A leak at the manis would sound exactly like a ticking noise. Its very consistent. Like if you didnt put the pass side gasket back on ,or it wasn't lined up right.
