Timing is done with the SPOUT removed so rpm's are not a factor (SPOUT=Spark Output and is a grey connector located between the fender and the air intake.) Base timing is 10* BTDC. How much advance you can go will depend on fuel octane rating and elevation. Most can advance timing to between 12*-14* BTDC.

At the very top there is a flat edge that runs parellel to the crank centerline. Its not that easy to see I put my light between the alternator and the front of the vlv cover.

set it at idle but, you can set the timing at any rpm with the spout out... advance is done via the compute, spout out takes the computer out of the equation...

too vague of a question

boost @ what cfm, discharge temps, compression and octane of gas would help

stock eec adds ~16 degrees on top of the base @ wot. it also will subtract timing based on air charge temps. a good rule to follow is keep the total advance on pump gas around 20

every car is different though, my total advance on straight pump gas is 17.5

What is the BTM? Boost timing module? If so the car has the MSD without the boost controller and there is a chip that was burnt for it..My manifold is leaking and I want to replace the gasket but the distributor needs to be removed. And my timing will be off when the distributor is removed..So that is why I was asking what timing is usually set at for a boosted car running 6 to 9 lbs of boost.

BTM Boost Timng Master. It is a MSD 6AL with boost timing control. I have one on my Turbo 2.3 Mustang. Bring the engine to TDC. Mark the dizzy housing and the block. Remove the cap mark the location of the rotor. Remove the dizzy watch the rotation as you reomve in order to place the rotor correctly. You should be close enough to fire the engine then time.
