Tips/Trick/Advice on How to Change Motor Mounts... Mine are SHOT

Seeing that My Motor mounts are completely Gone and My spring Break is next week i decided to fix the bastard issue.

My Poly Urethane Motor Mounts from StangSuspension.com are already here.

So, Can anyone who has done motor mount change throw some tip or tricks to make it easier. I am doing the Job with jackstands and a floor Jack.

I am ready know about removing the Starter to get the Passenger side mount. Any other Tricks?

What I did was take and unbolt the mounts from the k-member, which I believe is just one big nut. then i took a piece of wood and floor jack and slowly jacked up the motor on the oil pan until the motor mounts cleared the k-member. I then proceeded to remove one mount at a time and replaced it with the new ones. It is not a hard task but take your time and give yourself enough time. I would say a 2-3 hour window.

Also I cant remember but you might have to remove the starter, I cant remember its been some time since I did mine.

It makes a world of difference because i found that one of mine was broke and the motor had a good shake to it at idle but now the damn thing doesn't move one bit.

I do remember the passenger side being a little tricky when compared to the drivers side. The driver's side went in pretty smooth and fast.

1. Unbolt mounts.
2. Jack up motor (I usually do it at the bellhousing) with a block of wood
3. Remove mounts.
4. Replace mounts.
5. Lower motor.
7. Bolt mounts.

Should i use loc-tight on the bolts to the k-member?

My buddy did mine for $50 for me, I think he said that he needed to loosen the 1st mount again when he put the second in because the poly mounts were so stiff.

handz, let me know how you like your mounts after install, I get a vibration from the engine throughout the car at about 1400 rpm and it goes away at 1800 rpm, kinda wierd, however its awsome that the whole car cranks over not just the engine when I rev it at someone. :thumb:

Unbolt the AC compressor and tie it up out of the way. Then use a long extension to get to the starter bolt from the front of the car.

Yes they do. i had to change my clutch end of last summer. It was a PITA until i figured out to just move the AC compressor out of the way.

That is exactly what I did.

I only have 2 starter bolts now LOL Took me forever to think that moving the AC compressor out of the way makes it much easier.

drop the k, might take 3.5 hours to do it if you have never done it. just look at it as a learning ex. plus changing the motor mounts is a breeze with it out the way. go ahead and do long tubes and a tubeular k while you are in there.
