My tires need changing soon and I need ideas on sizes and brands. My wheels are Cobra R's not sure if they are 17x8 or 9. But I'm looking for the same diameter because they fill the wheel wells good with my drop. But I would like to go wider for stance. Also same size front and back. This is my DD so also a good all season and high mileage tire. The tires that came with the car are 225/55/17's

275/40/17 for the rear and 255/40/17 for front.....also the wheel is gonna give you the stance more than the tire but looking at that first pic you definitely need some meat

EDIT: btw those are x9's

Agreed! Not my choice in tires. So that size would fill out my wheel wells good? I guess I need to look for some pics on here.

I can't believe someone put 225s on those wheels. Stock 17x8 wheels come with 245s and I agree with whiplash's recommendations.

are you looking for a staggered set. or something you can rotate.
Either was I wouldn't do anything smaller than 255-45-17. you should be able to squeeze 275-40-17 if you can afford it.
For fun I put my old 275's on the front after I put 315's on the rear. No rubbing at all from the 17-9" wheels.

Those rims are 8" wide, not 9.

There's no way a 9" rim on a 225 would look like that. It would be stretched out of it's mind.

Ehhh that would be too short IMO. A 40 series would keep the tire about the same diameter as he has now.

there's a grey area there but i also spaced out and thought about 285s on an 18".....good catch, Slow

another space out by me..i thought he said he had 255s

I'm leanin towards what Ferocious is thinkin. If those are 8's then 225s wouldn't be that outta whack. My stock 17x8s have 245/45/17s all around, I think some people squeeze 275/40s on 17x8s though.

Trust me, they are 8" wide.

And with that said, don't go with 275s.
I would go 255 all around to play it safe. A big spacer in the rear will take care of the rest.

Ok so 255/45's all the way around. Now tire brands? I've ran Coopers and good years on T-birds and always had good luck. What about a daily driver Stang?

I vote 275s all the way around. Or at least 275s in the back. 255s look sissy in the rear.
