tire size

What is the widest tire I can put on these rims? A friend has 275/40/17 on his, but I was wondering if i can go a lil wider, for a more aggressive look and probably even better traction. :headbang:

275 is pushing it on that rim.

Any wider than a 275 on a 8" rim and you won't be putting anymore rubber to the floor. 275 is the biggest you should go on that size rim, a 285 would just bulge too much.

+1 even that is technically too large, but we usually get away with it. If you want wider tires get some different wheels.

I have 275's on an 8" wheel, but its a 275/60/15 on my other car! On a 17 anything wider than 275 WILL look bad and bulge in a bad way.
