My brake light kept coming on everytime i brake. I know my fuild is low but the fluid shouldn't go low unless theres another problem i read.

These guys took my car out for my test spin. 1st time anyone has ever drove my car with me outside listening. The cops say its loud, but with him driving its not loud, but sounds good. Anyways, i found it funny he listed every problem on my car.

1st problem: They want $526 to do all my brakes.. HMM, thats a problem. Price estimates are at the bottom of my post.
With todays economy i cant afford that. Ill just get a side mechanic to do my brakes

2nd problem: No center caps. ROFL, THATS NOT A PROBLEM.
But i guess they list this to cover there ass. But they was only doing an estimate for my brake job. :dunno:

3rd problem: Stop Test Reverse/ Forward Test: Both had noise and wasnt normal.
hmm

4th problem: Check engine light on
I also have no cats

5th problem: No Tail Pipes
Gotta love dumps

6th problem: Which im really concerned about. LEAKY REAR AXLE COVER! Its been leaking for years because of how the car was jacked up for exhaust install. How hard is this to fix?

7th problem: They turned on my HIDS than turned than off and turned them back on asap. OMG, my hids aren't designed to do that. I forgot to tell them not to touch the headlights. If you even turn the hids on while the car is off you'll most likly blow a fuse. You have to turn on the engine first than the hids 2nd.

Later that night before it was 2 dark outside i was driving with both headlights out and didnt know since it wasn't too dark. I just got pulled over acouple weeks ago for driving with 1 hid and this time almost 2. Im so glad i went back home and parked. I came back out for a drive when it was dark and flicked on the lights after turning on the engine and damn no hids! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: midas blew both of my hid fuses :hammer:

8th problem: Exhaust rattles
It rattles because i have no tailpipes connected.. or else it wouldnt rattle. Heres the source of the rattle, but i tied it down because its really annoying. So its fixed now

But $526 for a brake job. They say they have to cut my front rotors off and add new ones and they can flip the back and save them. Plus do all the other brake crap. :nonono:

resurface 2 read brake rotors: $90

Rear caliper Slide Service: $36

Remove and replace front brake pads
Pads/Rotors/labor= $259.85

Front Caliper slide service and clean and lubricate $36

Brake fluid replacement 59.99

does that seem like a okay price?

Do you have a "Mr. Brake" in your area? I would go there instead of Midas. Much better, less expensive and not a place to try to milk you.

Bleeding your brake lines can be a pain if you get air in the line.

Go to Mr. Brakes and get the pads replaced and rotors turned for under $100.

IF the rotors need to be turned. less than that depending.

Do it yourself!

I've even done it, and I'm a stupid 17 year old.
If you need it done quickly, and you don't mind the bill, that's one thing, but if you have a couple hours I'd suggest getting your hands dirty.

Your brake fluid level in your master cylinder will go down as your brakes wear and the piston in the calipers stay farther out.

Brakes are really one of the easiest jobs to do on a car. Many people don't want to try them because they have no familiarity with them at all and don't know what to expect, and also, this IS your brakes.

Here's a step by step on how to do it. It looks MUCH more involved than it really is. There are some steps that you don't have to do. Just look at what you've got and decide which steps you can skip, like disconnecting everything from the rear calipers.

http://www.autozone.com/addVehicleI...pping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c1528006d51b

On the rear calipers you need to screw the piston back into the caliper.

If you've got original brake fluid in your car some new brake fluid would be a good idea as it absorbs water over time, reducing it's boiling point which can cause problems. I am sure you've got a friend that has done it before and can help you with that.

After you get done doing it yourself you will ask yourself how these people could charge you $526 for what you just did, and sleep at night.

for 600 bucks you could get a seriously nice cobra brake kit for the front, with new rotors, lines, calipers, pads, and brackets.

yeah dude if you gonna blow that much, just call up summit and get the cobra brake calipers, all you would need to do then is undo the calipers bleed the lines and slap em on, since the pistons are already compressed as far as they go, or at leas should be, its as easy as breaking the 4 mounting bolts loose.

Good lord man, do it yourself. An older gentleman once told me (he was a die hard mustang guy) if you can't work on the stang you have no business owning one.
