Torque Wrench Question

i only know of the digital kind, the click kind, and the kind with the pointer on it.

why spend so much money on a snap on if you plan on buying a "beater" torque wrench, you paid for it, use it. i know guys that still use their dads hand me down tools that are older than i am and they are still 100% functional. if you use it correctly it will outlive you.

id hate to drop it and crack the screen or something... yea know? but thats EXACTLY why i dont have a $300.00 TQ wrench. lol. im with duffy, buy a $100.00 TQ wrench and use it till it falls apart. thats what its for.

YOu totally didnt understand what I put then, I told him to just use the snap on like its ment to be used and move on. I have easy over 1k in tools I bring to the track between the jack, sockets, impact, wrenches ect. Just take your good stuff, you dont want to have to worry bout the junk one being miscalibrated

well, a 100$ TQ wrench is still pretty high quality... compared to a 25$ harbor freight one. But if i had a $300.00 snap on digital one, id just use it for motor work. keep it as cherry as possible.

if i recall correctly, Snap On has a lifetime warranty on all tools. if it breaks they replace it, no questions asked.

so if he breaks his $300 torque wrench, guess what? Snap On gives him a new one

Just a remember that Snap-on's warranty is iffy sometimes. Its lifetime for the original owner, if you go to a yard sale and buy a 30 year old discontinued product they don't have to honor the warranty. It pretty much depends on the truck you get it from since he's the one returning the item for credit. I've never had a problem with exchanging old tools but some people I know have. If you're a good customer and treat your driver with respect, he'll usually return the same respect to you and help you out. If you happen to have problems with a driver, just go around him to the source of the product and the distribution center will usually help out.

I use Snap On Tq Sticks and a electric impact gun on wheels. Great if your going to the track.

My instructor at auto school ripped a dude for saying he uses Tq sticks. He said that in school we will NEVER use an impact gun to put on bolts.

As far as using the Snap on Tq wench all the time... I would. Why spend that sort of money and not use it.

Tools are meant to be used an abused! I beat the shit out of my tools between normal usage and having to carry them between job sites and getting stuffed in gang boxes. Handz stop being a puss and use the damn thing!

My instructor at auto tech school showed me the snap on TQ sticks and showed us how close they were by double checking them with a tq wrench. Different strokes for different folks.

My instructor is also an automotive engineer besides having 20+ years in the business so i trust his judgement and bought myself some TQ Sticks after seeing how accurate they were.

the only reason any of you should be worried about torque specs on wheels is if you're racing....if not just tighten them till they are tight.......billions of people have lived by that rule and never had a problem

Most people over tighten the lugs and warp rotors and ruin aluminum wheels. Thats why a TQ Wrench should be used if your not someone doing this on a regular basis.

i almost always use my impact to install wheels, can't remember the last time i checked the tq on one... I think after the new brakes i will be using the TQ wrench though, i have heard over tightening can cause warped rotors.
