trans slippage

Alright, so i swapped in PI cams a few weeks ago and ever since then my transmission seems to pop out of gear whenever i hit 4500 rpms. i changed the trans fluid and filter thinking that was the problem but i didn't make any difference. what else could be the problem?

if its auto and its doing that then its done...rebuild time.

my bad, i just realized that i didn't include what kind of tranny it was. it's a 96gt 4r70w. i've also noticed that it only does it at WOT. if it is rebuild time then i'm just gonna turn this one into a boat anchor and do i 5 speed swap. i just learned that there is someone here (okinawa where i'm stationed) with a totaled cobra so i may have a donor car to get parts from

Mine slipped out of o\d in the same way, it was the beginning of the end for my AODE, which is more or less the same box.

thanks for the info guys. this sucks that the tranny is dying but on the brighter i guess i can use it as an excuse to do a 5 speed swap

If you have a donor car available then i think you know what to do... unless you can get a low mile 4r70w replacement. Did you try posting this up in JR's section? He is trans vendor on here and knows alot about them.

i may have a donor car. a friend of mine says he knows a guy that totaled his cobra not too long ago. it all depends if he still has the car or not. it never really crossed my mind to post it in JR's section, but it's worth a shot.
