In my '97 Cobra when coasting in third gear, on a flat or downhill, it has a tendency to pop out of gear into neutral. It doesn't always do it but it's not uncommon.

Ideas on cause? If it's not a sign of anything serious I'm not going to worry about it for now.

Sounds like the dogs are worn from running with bad synchros and grinding during shifts. 3rd gear going bad is pretty common on pretty much every manual.

I've never experienced any grinding, either from the clutch being worn out or me missing the shift. Still shifts fine otherwise.

Does it have the stock shifter? Aftermarket shifters have shift stop adjustments, make sure they arent holding the shifter back from going all the way in gear.

Typical t45 3rd/4th shiftfork about to break. Classic 3rd gear pop out.

The shift fork could not take hard shifts.
