We all know the weak part of our Mustangs is the stock T5 and if you're like myself you don't have 2-3k to throw down on a tremmec. So I was wondering if you can build a stock T5 to be stronger to take the power and if it's cost effective. I see stock T5's on craigslist for couple hundred bucks so if it's cost effective to build one I would pick one up. Also where would I look to buy stronger parts to build a stock T5?

hmmm I think non world class was rated at 265 and world class was 300 ft lb...idk, not familiar with the T5 stuff to be honest.

Either way, thats pretty weak...g force stuff would probably be the way to go

Or try astro performance I believe there rated at 650hp

Checked out their website, the kits are just as expensive as buying a tremmec or a new transmission. Thank you tho.

Do you have a link to their webiste? I tried google and the website I found was pretty crappy so I don't know if it was the right website. Also how much did you pay for the guts?

Around 1500. The reason I went this route is tremec a are heavy and I think they suck . 1500 ain't expensive to me for a tranny that will last. So yea it ends up being the price of a tremec and my car doesn't gain extra weight I don't need a new a shifter or a drive shaft spacer I don't have to modify a k member to fit it. Don't have the common vibration issues that come with the great tko 600

Makes sense I didn't take into count everything you just listed. Think I will go G-Force kit seeing how I can pick up a used T5 for 100-300 hundred bucks on craigslist. Thanks brotha.

Has anyone actualy blown up a T5 because of the T5 weakness? Or because you don't know how to shift.

I've put T5s through hell and back, and still have never killed one.

Never had one actually pop on me but in my blown 89 it kept popping out of third and killed my time. Ran 13.9 at 112MPH.
